I comprehend the true meaning of my choice."
Jesus Cortez from Costa Mesa joined the Marine Corps for discipline and the opportunity to explore the world. "I'm looking forward to boot camp and experiencing different cultures. I chose the Marine Corps because I believe I can learn the most from them."
Kate Silva from La Habra will join the Air Force, influenced by her sister. "I've always been interested in aviation. I know I won't be a pilot immediately, but I'll take the right steps to become one and serve our country."

The ceremony featured speeches from decorated military personnel. Retired Army veteran and current American Legion Post 291 Commander Evan Planto delivered a stirring welcome. "To our seniors who have made this courageous decision to serve, I salute you. Your choice to wear our nation's uniform reflects your character, commitment and willingness to stand for something greater than yourself."
Retired U.S. Navy Officer Captain Sang H. Yi shared his journey, reinforcing the message of enduring values. "Your decision to serve is not just about protecting our borders. It's about upholding the principles that define us as a nation: Democracy, freedom and justice. You are the torchbearers of our future, the guardians of our values."
Mary Beth Martin, President of TAL Auxiliary, highlighted community support for these young servicemembers, introducing initiatives like care package shipments and Blue Star Banners.
As the evening ended, there was a collective sense of gratitude and hope. The parents, filled with pride and anxiety, were reassured by the speakers' words and the camaraderie of the community.
