Open house and Thanksgiving Day

Bristol, CT

On Saturday, Nov. 30, the American Legion Family of Post 2 held an open house at the post for the general public and members. During the open house, toys were collected for the Bristol Police toy collection. A number of toys were donated thanks to the hearts of those who attended. On Thursday, Post 2 opened its doors for fellow veterans and their spouses with a hot turkey meal for those who had nowhere to go. The Legion has been doing this for many years. This year was different because the person who cooked the turkeys in the past years was unable to do it - Past Commander Richard Schreiner Jr. had passed on a few weeks back. The members made the meal happen in his memory.
