Forestville Memorial Parade.

Banner

Bristol, CT

American Legion Post 209 created and donated a banner to 100-year-old Iwo Jima survivor Joe Caminiti in honor of his part in the "Reunion of Honor" that took place on the island of Iwoto back in March. The banner was used in the Forestville Memorial Parade on Sunday and then again in the Bristol Memorial Day procession, where he was grand marshal.
It was done to honor and remember Caminiti for being the only survivor from the United States to place a wreath on the "Reunion of Honor" Monument with the prime minister of Japan.
The banner will be donated to the Iwo Jima Survivor Association of Connecticut to be used in future parades, but not before being displayed at the Elks Lodge 1010 Flag Day ceremony and later in the town's Mum Festival Parade.
