On Sept. 19, 2025, Lewis L. Millett American Legion Post 38 of South Korea conducted the annual POW/MIA Day Ceremony at Mapo, South Korea. The ceremony was also on Zoom. Legionnaire Steve Tharp spoke of the establishment and purpose of POW/MIA Recognition Day, set aside to honor the commitment and sacrifices made by the nation’s prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action, as well as their families. Post 38 1st Vice Commander Daniel Pinkston spoke of the significance of the POW/MIA Table, meant to remind us of fallen, missing or imprisoned U.S. military servicemembers. Each item on the table represents the emotions and feelings reserved for those who did not come home. Both Pinkston and Tharp spoke about each of the 57 MIAs returned this past year from the Korean War. Post 38 Chaplain Timothy Lane led prayers in remembrance of the MIAs and POWs, praying our nation will continue to never forget them.
