Sunday December 7th, 2025, was a busy one for Post 2.
It began with Post 2 annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day at 11 am. It was held outdoors at the flagpole.
The Post was donated the Captain's Bell from the USS Kidd. When donated it was with the condition that the Post ring it in memory of all who died on the USS Kidd when a Japanese plane smashed into her deck killing or wounding a third of her crew. Many members of Post 2 served on the Uss Kidd and after the War help to make it a floating Museum. Every year since the Post had the Bell a World War II Veteran has rung it. It began with a Pearl Harbor Survivor, next a crew member from the USS Kidd and now Joe Caminiti, Iwo Jima Survivor. The event was ended with taps.
At noon Joe was transported to Southington Mission BBQ where he was honored at the Veterans Noon Day Meal. He was treated to a full meal by the workers and staff of Mission BBQ.
At 2 pm Post Historian held a presentation at the World War II Legacy Foundation Museum in East Hartford.. There he talked about Edward Riccio, the last Pearl Harbor Survivor from Bristol who passed away in 2016. At the time he was one of only two alive in Ct. The Riccio family was present to lend a hand with the presentation.
