Jonathon Tepes Sharkey - better known in racing as Rocky Flash - was informed on March 3 by NASCAR Licensing that his request for a new driver's license was approved. On March 4, he received his digital license. Since Jonathon will be racing as Jonathon and also Rocky Flash, NASCAR made his membership under Rocky Flash/Jonathon Sharkey.
Jonathon held a NASCAR Busch Series License during the 2002 and 2003 racing seasons as solely Rocky Flash.
After speaking to NASCAR's manager of licensing, Jonathon told her, he felt like a dinosaur from "Jurassic Park" when hearing about all the changes in NASCAR compared to 2003.
Jonathon has started Flash/Tepes Racing (https://www.facebook.com/TeamTepesRacing) and appointed his son Stanislav Shavaryn-Sharkey (https://www.legiontown.org/sonsmembership/14782/very-young-sal-member-wi...) as VP so he can learn about owning and running a race team when he is older.
On the night of March 4, Jonathon raced at T4 KartPlex winter Series and finished fifth by missing all the crashes on the track.
Andy, the media manager for T4 KartPlex, stated during live filming how Rocky Flash drove through multiple crashes and was the man on the move. After the race, Andy informed him that after his racing that night, he was definitely ready to race at Daytona.
Everyone is welcome to follow Jonathon on his personal Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/jonathontepes) as well as on the Flash/Tepes page.
Jonathon is hoping to have enough funding to have a small NASCAR team located in Palmetto, Fla., to race in NASCAR events in Florida and the lower states, as well as have the main team located in Charlotte, N.C. He will race Ford Mustangs made by Fury Racecars of Mooresville, N.C.
Through Jonathon's racing he will continue to promote cancer awareness and treatment. He supports and promotes
FXCK CANCER and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Eight years ago, his daughter Danielle died from leukemia.
