Bowling Green, KY

Marine Corps League Detachment 1095 in Bowling Green, Ky., carries on the tradition of service to country and community. Started in 2002 by a few local Marines interested in establishing a formal identity locally, we have grown to approximately 50 members and are involved in multiple volunteer programs in 10-plus counties. Our largest activity is participation in Toys for Tots each year.

Detachment 1095 proudly represents Marine veterans in the Bowling Green Veterans Parade every year as well as many other activities throughout the year. Our highest calling each year is Toys for Tots. Our coordinator, Janel Doyle, began her work with Toys for Tots in 2012 and has grown the effort every year since. Last year she was named Toys for Tots Region 2 Coordinator of the year at the Toys for Tots Coordinators Conference in Quantico. She has coordinated the collection of 77,000+ toys, books and stocking stuffers and distributed them to 11,000 children in 2021. Recent disasters in several parts of Kentucky have called on us and the many volunteers from our ever-expanding area to distribute not only toys to children, but pallets of food, clothing and health items to many disaster areas. The work goes all year long.
