SAN ANTONIO – (July 29, 2025) – The New San Antonio Mayor & City Council Reception, held at the InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk, was more than a ceremonial gathering - it was a testament to civic engagement, community pride, and the shared vision that united a diverse and dynamic city, also known as Military City USA.

Hosted by the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, the reception brought together elected leaders, civic officials, business figures and residents in an atmosphere of collaboration and celebration.

It offered a unique opportunity for the people of San Antonio to connect with those who shape the city's policies and aspirations, fostering a spirit of transparency, gratitude and mutual respect.

The reception served several vital purposes within the fabric of San Antonio's municipal life. Most importantly, it honored the service and dedication of Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones and city council members who commit themselves to public stewardship.

The mayor, a U.S. Air Force veteran, shared her focused and disciplined approach to addressing the opportunities and challenges ahead for city council, emphasizing her mindset: “What is the mission? How do we get things done? How do we put points on the board?”

Additionally, the reception provided an opportunity for networking. Attendees were encouraged to share their concerns, ideas and hopes for San Antonio’s future.

“One of the reception’s most valued elements was its facilitation of open dialogue prior to the start of the formal program,” said 3rd Division Vice Commander Burrell Parmer, a member of Fred Brock American Legion Post 828. “In an age when public trust in government can be unstable, face-to-face conversations between elected officials, business leaders and residents are vital.”

The reception stood as a beacon of civic pride and engagement. It was an evening when barriers were lowered, conversations flourished, and the collective will of San Antonians was celebrated and renewed.
