John J. Morris Post 62 honors life of longtime Rider Jerry Whisman

Peoria, AZ

On Aug. 3, John J. Morris Post 62 celebrated the life of longtime Rider and Army veteran Jerry "Ziggy" Whisman. The Riders rolled in to kick the event off. Jerry's widow went to each Rider and thanked them before the ceremony started. The honor guard presented colors, then a rifle salute and taps. The flag was presented to Pat, his widow, then the ceremony started. Lots of people came forward with memories, mostly about what a great singer he was but also his generosity with everyone. A great potluck concluded the event.

Flag presented to the widow by the honor guard.

Riders chaplain Jean Ellison was master of ceremonies, including opening and closing prayers.

Table set up to provide a great tribute to Jerry.
