July 4, 2026: On the 250th anniversary of the founding of the USA in Boston, Post 13 Historian Steve Shaffer (U.S. Army vet) unexpectedly met a Massachusetts district commander during the America 250 parade in Boston. Commander Robert Jerdan broke ranks as he walked with other Legionnaires to say hello to the Tallahassee Post 13 historian while watching the parade.
Jerdan gave Shaffer his district pin as a thank-you for being able to be part of America 250 in Boston; "This unique honor made my day."
