Veteran to compete in a pageant

Ms. Beverly McLaughlin from Post 289 in Clarksville, Tenn., grew up in New Whiteland, Ind., and will compete in America's Ultimate Queen pageant on June 6-9, 2024. The pageant will take place at the Embassy Suites North.

Ms. Beverly McLaughlin was featured with her service dog, Lunkenheimer, in an article from The American Legion as well as a local news outlet in Clarksville, Tenn.

As part of the pageant, she will be competing in the on-stage optionals, "State Wear" (Dolly Parton) and "Costume" (Hanbok dress). She will compete in the mandatory events, interview, fashion wear and formal, with on-stage questions.

The reason she chose to compete in America's Ultimate Queen was because it is being held in her home state of Indiana, but also because she has heard such good things about the directors. She also enjoys meeting other women to network with, especially her veteran sisters that she might not ever get to meet.

Growing up, she was not the type of girl that got picked for prom or homecoming queen and was never invited to compete in a pageant.

It would mean the world to her to have the room packed with supporters during this pageant.
