John J. Morris Post 62 Riders honor American Legion Valor Medal winner

Peoria, AZ

The John J. Morris Post 62 Riders honor one of their own. Tom Kent received an American Legion Valor Medal prior to moving to Arizona but kept it quiet. An Air Force veteran, he is very active in the post. He is on the House Committee and has now joined the Publicity/Community Relations Committee. As assistant director for the Riders, Larry Tank says Tom is very good at being tailgunner on rides. He holds back to help anyone with issues and keeps track of everything going on. Four days a week Tom volunteers to wait tables in the post during breakfast and lunch. He has also volunteered to help with bingo on some occasions. He is now considering running for the E-Board for the post. Very humble and always thinks of others. But the Valor Medal for putting his life on the line when wounded to protect his wounded partner is an amazing story that would not fit here, but you can tell he earned it in a life-and-death situation. Thankfully, both of them survived their injuries. He was honored several times while on the police force after active duty. A salute to a wonderful person and great man that Post 62 and the Riders honor for his great work.

Meet Tom Kent.
