On Aug. 27, 2025, members of Truitt Bishop American Legion Post 426 in Alvarado, Texas, participated in their local Johnson County Old Settlers Reunion Parade. The post Family - Legionnaires, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion - came together and built a stunning float and walked along it on the parade route handing out candy. It was a wonderful way to interact with the community - and this paid off, with Post 426 winning Best Overall Float! Many thanks to Post Commander Joey Allen, Auxiliary President Amy Hines and 6th District Adjutant Scott Hines for their organization and leadership, which resulted in this success. Also participating were Legionnaires Drew Devlin, Mike Richardson, Ron Tarczynski and John Cisneros, Auxiliary members Jodie Tarczynski, Brandi Wray, Raquel Cisneros, Stephanie Smith, Precious Moore and Alyssa Jackson, and SAL members Shaun Smith, Bob Hill, Cody Hines and Wyatt Hines.
