Our Gahanna (Ohio) Post 797 is entering our third year of hosting a 5K walk/run to raise money to help 100+ previously homeless veterans in the Columbus, Ohio, area in conjunction with National Church Residences, which owns a 100-unit property called The Commons at Livingston. Our post has raised over $10,000 in two years that helps provide items needed to start a new household for veterans just coming off the streets and attempting to stabilize their lives and become productive citizens again.

We've partnered with the community and have become one of several organizations contributing to this mission, and soon we will see another 100 units coming online, meaning 100 more homeless veterans will have a place to call home. Homelessness in the veteran community in the United States is huge, and our post and our local community want to make an attempt to stem the growth of veteran homelessness through any means we can muster.
