John J. Morris Post 62 honors volunteers with appreciation event

Peoria, AZ

On May 25 John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) hosted its Family Volunteer Awards dinner and event. The commander called the meeting to order with the chaplain giving the opening prayer. There is no way the post can operate smoothly without all those who volunteer their time to make things successful. The awards started with the Auxiliary honoring their Member of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. The SAL then honored their Member of the Year and Volunteer of the Year, plus awards to their wives for the time they give up when their husbands are volunteering. The Riders then presented to their Member of the Year and to the couple that go Volunteers of the Year. The honor guard then presented certificates to all their members, who then presented a plaque to their captain. The post first vice commander then presented awards to his kitchen volunteers, who then presented items to him. The bingo manager then presented certificates to their volunteers. The final awards were presented by the post commander to the Volunteer of the Year and Legionnaire of the Year. The chaplain then gave a closing prayer and dinner was served. About 125 people were in attendance. Once again, without volunteers things would not happen, so a salute to them all.
