AUSTIN, Texas – (July 12, 2025) – National Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Director Cole Lyle, a member of Johnson-Wiggens American Legion Post 22 in Corsicana, Texas, delivered remarks during the American Legion Department of Texas’ annual convention held at the Renaissance Austin Hotel.

"National Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation" refers to the programs and services offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to support veterans in their physical- and mental-health recovery and overall well-being.

These programs encompass a wide range of services, including residential rehabilitation treatment for mental health conditions, adaptive sports programs and access to acute inpatient mental-health care.

The American Legion is the largest U.S. veterans organization, with nearly 2 million members in more than 12,000 posts across the nation and in foreign countries. Chartered by Congress in 1919, the Legion is dedicated to the motto of “Veterans Strengthening America.” Legionnaires accomplish this through the organization’s four founding pillars of mentoring youth and sponsoring wholesome community programs, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to servicemembers and veterans.
