First class kicks off!

John J. Morris Post 62 partners with Guitars 4 Vets

Peoria, AZ

On Sept. 29, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) started their partnership with Guitars 4 Vets and the first class was held. The veterans will have classes once a week (plus homework) for about 12 weeks leading up to graduation as long as they have made at least 10 classes. At graduation they will put on a small concert for the post and then they receive a free new guitar. It was amazing during introductions that many have carried their guitar around the world to duty stations. The goal is one instructor per student, but they will do one instructor per two students. On the first night they actually had someone who played in a band at the post attend and volunteer to become an instructor. Once the music lesson started the room filled with great music. I will have a follow-up story in December when they have their first graduation at Post 62. An honor to be able to host everyone involved!

Getting set up. Heads turned as everyone carried guitars through the social quarters toward the dining hall.

Welcome Frank and Christina Dugie and Guitars 4 Vets!
