Apache Post 27 honor guard on hand for the ceremony.

Department of Arizona salutes Apache Post 27 for airport signage

Phoenix, AZ

Department of Arizona Commander Bergstresser expressed great appreciation for the work of Apache Post 27. All four families in the post came together in partnership with two local VFWs to put up welcome-home wall signage at Mesa Gateway Airport. The idea came from Navy veteran Diane Weaver when she was visiting Montana and saw the signage in their airport. She came back to Apache Junction to tell Post 27 about it. Past Post Commander Debbie Pfiel stated that all four families made the donations for the supplies needed. Divine Signs installed the signage, with Erik Scott donating his labor for the work. Now everyone coming in and flying out of Mesa Gateway will see the signage, thanking veterans for their service. Local ABC TV Station 15 was on hand for the ceremony. Debbie did say their honor guard had issues at the airport and could not have the rifle team enter with rifles; understandable in this day and age. A proud thank-you from the Department of Arizona to the Apache Post 27 for their teamwork and support of veterans!

Airport representative Tiffany Johnson, Debbie Pfiel, past post commander, Diane Weaver, Unit 27 second vice and Navy veteran (the visionary behind it all), and Erik Scott from Divine Signs, who donated the labor to install the signage. Thanks to all.

Signage installed at airport thanking veterans. One wonders why every airport would not have this. Contact Apache Post 27 for details on how others can do it.
