John J. Morris Post 62 celebrates life of Past Commander Marge Ahrens

Peoria, AZ

On April 9, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) held a celebration of life for a past commander, Marge Ahrens. She was an Air Force veteran. The event started with several Post 62 Riders pulling up on motorcycles, then opening remarks by Commander Singer, then an invocation by Chaplain Hauf. The color guard then entered and presented colors followed by folding of her flag and presenting it to her sister. The 21-gun salute followed with taps after that. After the color guard was dismissed, Hauf gave overview on her life followed by several people coming up to speak. The speakers had a couple of themes - she still was a stickler for details on how the post should look and proper attire, but she also loved to tell jokes to people. The overflow crowd enjoyed the stories and got a lot better understanding on the woman she was. Once the service concluded, a potluck was available for everyone in attendance. Clear skies ahead Marge!

The Post 62 Riders showed up in force to honor her.
