American Legion Post 512 of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif., has since 2022 contributed more than $74,000 to local and national veterans programs, scholarships, youth initiatives, and community and veterans support.
COVID marked a major turning point. To survive and grow, the post needed to reaffirm its traditional values and engage actively in the community. In 2022, we launched our first “Veterans’ Charity Golf Tournament” to support community engagement plans and have continued ever since. Our 5th annual tournament is scheduled for April 17, 2026.
Given to date:
• Local and National Charities: $41,970 (including Wounded Warrior Family Support, Operation Freedom Paws, Palisades Fire Relief, Farm Worker Relief, Boys/Girls State, Gold Star Moms, Veterans Transition Center of California)
• Local Youth Programs (baseball and high school): $7,450
• Scholarships (veterans): $10,000
• Direct aid to needy local veterans and families (grants, loans and gifts): $15,000
