AUSTIN, Texas – (July 10, 2026) – During the 107th Annual Convention of the American Legion Department of Texas, held at the Renaissance Austin Hotel, Department Commander Richard Huntley and Department Adjutant Bill West were presented with Quilts of Honor.

A Quilt of Honor or Quilt of Valor ceremony is a touching event where a handmade, patriotic quilt is formally "awarded" (not gifted) to a veteran or active servicemember.

The ceremony honors the recipient’s service and provides them with a tangible token of comfort and healing.

Since its founding in 1919, The American Legion has been a key advocate for veterans’ benefits, children and youth, patriotic American values, a strong national defense, and quality-of-life issues for those serving in today’s armed forces.
