On Sept. 9, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) honored Dillon’s Bayou at Pleasant Harbor as the business of the month. The Americanism Award is presented to the top Peoria business for their support of our military veterans.
George Valverde opened his first Dillon’s KC BBQ restaurant in 1999 on Thunderbird Road in Peoria. Since that time, he opened his second location in 2005, Dillon’s KC BBQ Arrowhead (Glendale, Ariz.). Dillon’s Bayou at Pleasant Harbor opened in 2016, located at Lake Pleasant. In 2011, he opened Dillon’s KC BBQ at the Wildlife World Zoo and again in 2019, his newest location at Dillon’s Western Trails Ranch. The original location closed in 2019, but there are many locations here to serve our military veterans.
Valverde was pleasantly surprised when we contacted him, and he felt it was an honor and privilege to be receiving this award. He has supported the military community through catered events for units at Luke AFB, especially the 944th Fighter Wing, where his brother, Pablo Valverde retired as a CMSGT from the 944th FW.
Post 62 is proud to support businesses that support our veterans – thank you, Dillon’s Bayou at Pleasant Harbor.
