Hammondsport American Legion Memorial Day services

Post 407 - Hammondsport, NY

The Hammondsport American Legion held its annual Memorial Day services on May 26, 2025, starting at the Veteran’s Honor Roll Memorial in the town square. Marine veteran Jason Everdyke placed the wreath at the memorial. This was followed by a small parade to Main Street Cemetery.

Post 407 Commander JP Oliver, Army veteran David Trubic and Everdyke rode in the Army Jeep to the cemetery. Oliver led the services by welcoming the community and guests. Chaplain Christopher Reneau led the services with a prayer and the Scouts did a reading of “In Flanders Field.” After that, Everdyke delivered a speech about Memorial Day. The Hammondsport Central School High School Band then played patriotic songs, Everdyke placed a wreath, and the Legion color guard did a salute.

The ceremony was concluded with the band sounding taps. After concluding the services, the community was invited to Post 407 for light refreshments.

The Hammondsport American Legion thanks the members, community and guests for helping and attending the annual Memorial Day services.
