"Battle of Davao" American Legion Post 66 - Davao City, Philippines

"Battle of Davao" American Legion Post 66 of Davao City, Philippines, held their annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Filipino American Veterans Masonic Memorial Park in Wireless Davao City, on May 25, 2026. Post 66 honored the fallen heroes at the Unknown Soldiers gravesite during the ceremony. The observance of Memorial Day is a reminder of the shared history between the Philippines and the United States.

Ian Beltrano, Post 66’s honor guard commander, put the program together and was able to get members of the 111st Standby Division Reserve to perform the 21-gun salute at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers; their band played both the Philippines and American anthems and sounded taps at the tomb. Beltrano's guest speaker was the commander of the 111st Standby Division Reserve, Brig. Gen. Leoncio A. Cirunay Jr., who gave an inspiring speech. Beltrano also mustered all Post 66's honor guards to do multiple tasks; raising the flags, marching to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers and to the Chapel, posting the Colors, performing the 13 folds of the American flag, paying their respect to the POW/MIA table and retiring the colors.

Member Paul Walker was the master of ceremonies during the ceremony. Also, Post 66 Commander Terry Robbins, Post 66 Chaplain Jesse Motta and Post Sergeant-At-Arms Keith Beairsto participated in the ceremony.

Post 66 thanks all their ladies who made food/snacks and their continuous support to Post 66 and the post members who attended our ceremony. Without all of you, this ceremony wouldn't have been such a great success.
