Evert Young's story will be on our televisions for the month of April.

John J. Morris Post 62 honors Air Force veteran Evert Young as veteran of the month

Peoria, AZ

On April 1, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) honored Air Force veteran Evert Young as the April veteran of the month. He was a Vietnam veteran, joining with friends on the buddy system. He was security police along with being an education and training superintendent. He was a career veteran, retiring as a master sergeant. With his wife "Inga" he had four children, plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He volunteered in community outreach, coached softball and was a Scout leader. Have to admire someone who loved watching "Gunsmoke" and "Bonanza." The event started with our Legion Riders pulling in, followed by opening prayer, then the color guard took down last month's veteran flag and presented it to his family, then Commander Singer read Evert's story as his flag was raised, and closing prayer before conclusion.

Our Legion Riders always kick off veteran of the month by riding in.

Commander Singer reads Evert's story.

Flag flying high for the month of April in respect.

Evert's daughter and son-in=law presented the flag to be flown. Always very emotional for the family to have a relative honored.
