On Sept. 15, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) started taking their turn to handle flag retirement. It will go on for a few days because another group in the NWVVA (North West Valley Veterans Association) failed to take their turn. Every other week a veterans organization has their turn (about 12 group) handling flag retirement. It can be a huge commitment depending on how many flags get turned in to the various locations. The blessing this week is that the temperatures have dropped into the low 100s. A salute to our honor guard, former honor guard, commander and former commanders who take pride in doing their duty with flag retirement. Thanks to everyone working a few days this week to handle the load.
