American Legion member Jonathon Tepes Sharkey, better known in racing as Rocky Flash, is honing his racing skills in Palmetto, Fla., at the T4 KartPlex track. He had a third-place finish, two fourth-place finishes, a sixth-place finish and an 11th-place finish in the month of January.
Jonathon is racing in the Winter Series at T4 KartPlex as well, and is preparing to improve on his oval racing at Ambassador
Racing Track in Wimauma, Fla., the same track his son Stanislav is racing at (https://www.legiontown.org/sonsmembership/14782/very-young-sal-member-wi...).
Jonathon has secured sponsorship from Dr. Ricky King, DC, the owner of Riverview Chiropractic Center, where Jonathon has been a patient for over six years.
Additionally, Florida Rep. Michael Owen has step up to help Jonathon offset the cost of his testing sessions at T4 KartPlex. Owen has been a strong supporter of veterans throughout his time in numerous elected offices in Tampa Bay.
Jonathon is a member of American Legion Post 17 in Manhattan, Kan., and a life member of the Society of the 1st Infantry Division. The division's magazine will be writing a story about Jonathon in their next issue. Jonathon wears the 1st Infantry patch on the sleeve of his racing suit.
Jonathon has received letters of support from Florida representatives and President Trump regarding his racing and his quest to make history by being the first disabled veteran to race in the Indy 500 and 24 Hours of Le Mans.
