American Legion Post 116 in North Carolina proudly honored all Vietnam-era veterans, with special recognition for those connected to Post 116 in Fuquay-Varina, at a ceremony at their post on Sunday.
Master of Ceremonies Dan Miltenberger skillfully guided a beautiful and moving ceremony dedicated to honoring our Vietnam veterans. Post Chaplain Wayne Sherrod offered thoughtful opening and closing prayers, setting a reverent tone for the event.
Mayor Bill Harris of the Town of Fuquay-Varina and Post Commander Krista Abshure shared remarks, while Vietnam-era veteran keynote Floyd Baker delivered a powerful sharing of history and never-ending support for Vietnam veterans. The Post 116 Color Guard presented a moving ceremonial 21-gun salute and flag ceremony.
Together, they expressed our deep gratitude for the service, sacrifice and enduring legacy of our Vietnam-era veterans.
As a meaningful token of our appreciation, Abshure gifted each with a special commemorative coin.
Events like this remind us how important it is to pause, remember and say thank you to those who answered the call during a challenging chapter in our nation’s history. We are forever grateful.
