It wasn’t about Medals. It was never about Glory, nor was it about another Stripe on my sleeve.
It was because, someday when I make it back to the World, and drive
By a VA Cemetery …. I have to know for sure in my Heart
Not ONE of those tombstones is out there because of something I did, or failed to do.
There are NO Heroes here. Only those who were willing to sacrifice it all,
Asking nothing in return but to never be forgotten.
It isn't about Barbecues or Ball Games,or the weather at the Beach ,
While those things are nice , take two minutes,to remember in silence those gentle souls , that paid the ultimate cost and will never see those things again.
