The South Central Texas American Legion Riders (SCTX ALR) held their fourth annual Legacy Run on April 12-13, 2024, hosted by American Legion Post 593 in Converse, Texas. The South Central Texas area consists of American Legion Rider chapters from as far north as Round Rock down south to Pharr in the Rio Grande Valley, and west from Kerrville to Columbus in the east. In addition to riders from the South Central Texas area, several joined us from Alabama, Arizona and far west Texas (Alpine, Claude and Lubbock).
A total of eighty-six riders on sixty-nine motorcycles participated in the two-day event, which started with a registration on Friday evening followed by friendship and fellowship. On Saturday, riders enjoyed a hearty breakfast before heading out on their run to American Legion Post 460 in Castroville, Texas. Castroville Legion Family members served the riders an amazing hamburger lunch complete with all the fixings and dessert. After a day of riding, ALR members returned to Converse where they participated in evening activities including a spaghetti meal hosted by Post 593, several raffles and a live auction.
The purpose of the SCTX Legacy Run is to raise funds for The American Legion Veterans and Children Foundation. Twice during the run, ALR state advisor and Legacy Run chairman, Mark Meysembourg, accepted donations and presented certificates of appreciation to the hosting posts, sponsors and donors. Overall, the run was a huge success with donations and fundraising totaling $19,871.
