The American Legion Riders all over Arizona participate on Sundays for an event called "Capture the Flag". It's a great way to meet everyone and in some cases other riding groups that are not apart of the American Legion. The major social event is a an amazing way to network with many and talk about support that might be needed. This exposure has led to ALR Post 62 talking with a charity group that needed a place to hold a fundraising event.
At the Flag Steal, "Skippy" (President and Cofounder of Down and Durdy) approached the Director of ALR Post 62 and asked if he might reach out to the person responsible for allowing functions to be held in our events room. Because ALR Post 62 is very aware of Down and Durdy and the financial assistance they give to riders injured in a motorcycle accident, our Director, Bobby Gallo ensured that our Post would help this organization with hosting a fundraiser in our building.

"Many of us have been impacted by a motorcycle accident, ourselves or our friends and loved ones. For this reason, we want to help. We realize that even after the stays in the hospital, the broken bones and physical therapy, there are more needs than meet the eye.

Is to provide love, support, and financial assistance to riders and their families when they are injured in a motorcycle accident."
The event on August 23, 2026 was attended by a large crowd and they were hungry. Post 62's kitchen offered pulled pork sandwiches with all the fixings and Mission BBQ donated the BBQ sauce to make the sandwiches a hit. All proceeds from the sales at lunch and then also, the volunteers agreed that tips too, were donated to Down and Durdy.
The actual sum collected for the whole fundraising event has not been assessed as of yet, but please know, the day was a success!
