On New Year's Eve, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) came together for togetherness between all veterans and families to ring in the new year. All 150 tickets sold out in one week. The event included dinner and fixings, live band, party favors and, of course, the ringing in of the new year. The crowd came early for best seating. Then the shrimp cocktails were brought out. The whole night people could share their pictures on the big-screen television, which kept a lot of people looking at that. Then the main course came out with steak, lobster, scallops and baked potato. The band had started, so the dancing had started! At 7 pm the commander led the group in the 7:00 toast to honor those who went but have not returned. Dessert was cheesecake, and the wait for those last few minutes for the New Year's toast watching the ball drop in New York. Events like these bring great togetherness among all families of the post and create new friendships, as people sat at tables with a familiar face with now time for conversation. Happy New Year!
