When I entered Army basic training in October of 1968, I thought I was in great shape. Well, after a couple of days of physical training (PT) and some hikes, I realized I had a long way to go. The PT every day and the hikes toned me. Passing the PT test was a really satisfying event for me. The physical training I received stayed with me throughout my Army career and into civilian life. I still do some of those exercises.
