SAN ANTONIO – (Sept. 20, 2022) – As Legionnaires, the most sacred responsibility is to look out for one another and fellow veterans. Throughout the membership year, Legionnaires of Fred American Legion Post 828 have been making monthly Buddy Checks to their active and inactive members.

The Buddy Check program, which was launched in March 2019, encourages posts to reach out to veterans in their areas – members, former members and others – to see what The American Legion could do for them, especially during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Assisting Post 828 in making Buddy Checks before the start of the general membership meeting were 1st Vice Cmdr. Johnnie Shepheard, 2nd Vice Cmdr. Glenn Robinson, Chaplain Patricia Wimberly, Judge Advocate Douglas Russell Jr., Executive Placement 2 Committeeman Marcellus Hutchinson and Legionnaire Mike Nathaniel.
