On May 1, John J. Morris Post 62 (Peoria, Ariz.) honored R. Peter Hansen as our May Veteran of the Month. Pete served in the Army during World War II in France and Germany. His father, Oliver, served in the Army in World War I. Once again, the event started with our Riders coming in and posting in front of the flagpole. The honor guard came in to handle the ceremony. The chaplain gave the opening prayer and also explained the 13 folds of the American flag. After the commander told the story of Pete, the honor guard was excused as the event was closing. The chaplain gave the benediction, and everyone got out of the Arizona heat. The stories read about our Veteran of the Month are always stirring and moving.
