New Braunfels, TX

On July 4, 2025, destructive and deadly flooding took place in the Texas Hill country. As a result, at least 139 people were killed, at least 117 of them in Kerr County.

Flooding began on July 4. with over 10 inches of rain causing the Guadalupe River to rise 25 feet in less than 45 minutes.

Tourist areas and summer camps were destroyed, with Camp Mystic losing 25 young girls and two counselors. Sadly, one young girl has not been recovered.

American Legion 208 in Kerrville became a drop-off point and staging area for state and federal agencies. Ella Turner, an officer with Auxiliary Unit 208 and charitable bingo operator working with Van Meyers (CEO of All Saints Bingo), and Ronnie Baker, a member of Post 133 in Temple and sales manager for All Saints, raised over $125,000 from bingo manufacturers, distributors and charities across North America. Post 133 Commander John Potts put the word out at the state meeting, which raised thousands of dollars more. To date almost $150,000 has been given to those who lost so much. Funds are still being distributed as the community continues to rebuild.
