David MacWhorter and Mark Reisetter spent time at the Wall, locating the names of their fallen comrades and feeling blessed for our own life journeys.

Two Vietnam vets reunite after 56 Years

Lewiston , MN

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, two members of Charlie Company, 1/327th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile) reunited on the National Mall near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall after a 56-year separation!

Former 3rd Platoon Leader Lt. David MacWhorter, who lives about a half-hour west of D.C., and former 1st Platoon rifleman Mark Reisetter of Lewiston, Minn. (Post 90), who was visiting D.C. on a Freedom Honor Flight out of La Crosse, Wis., last saw each other in November or December 1970 at Camp Eagle in Thua Thien province in the Republic of Vietnam.

The Honor Flight bus’ longest stop of the day was at the Big 3 (the Lincoln Memorial, the Wall and the Korean Memorial) for an hour and a half. But when MacWhorter walked Reisetter back to the bus, the bus captain invited him to ride along to three more stops, allowing the two Screaming Eagles to spend almost five hours together! Our conversations and time spent together in D.C. made for a terrific and memorable day!
