On Feb. 14, 2026, Otha Springs II Memorial Post 294 hosted a community chicken drop in their community. The post partnered with a local chicken farm that donated boxes of chicken to deliver to those in need - when the post went to pick up the chicken they were expecting maybe two pallets of boxes, but instead the donator filled their truck up with over 200+ boxes of chicken weighing 40 lbs. each for a total of over 8,000+ pounds of chicken. From 0800 until they gave the last box away at 1130, they served 212 families; signed up three new members on the spot; and made a lasting impression of how a Legion Family operates in serving veterans, their families and the community.
