Veterans community involvement

Brookville, IN

Bernard Hurst American Legion Post 77 in Brookville, Ind., along with VFW Post 2014 got together and hosted an Easter egg hunt for the community. Approximately 3,000 eggs were hidden by the Legion-sponsored Scout Troop 45. The rain held off and approximately 65 children 12 and under attended the event. Post 77 and Post 2014 spent an evening together stuffing the eggs. VFW Post Commander Keith Allen and Post 77 Commander Ron Myers, SAL 9th District Commander Kenny Jones (aka Easter Bunny), and Faith Jones, Post 77 vice commander/adjutant, collaborated to make this event successful and make the community aware that veterans work together with our community. This is the second year that Bernard Hurst American Legion Post 77 has sponsored this event, and VFW Post 2014 was extremely interested in assisting us. After all, we are here for the same purpose and can work together like a well-oiled machine.
